Dr Agostinho Almiro de Almeida

Prof Agostinho Almeida graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Universidade do Porto with a postgraduate specialization in Clinical Analysis and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry. He has taught since 1989 in the areas of Instrumental Methods of Analysis, namely in the context of the Clinical Laboratory. Prof Almeida is a researcher at LAQV/REQUIMTE, and his main research interests are trace elements in health and disease. He has authored over 140 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the master’s in clinical Analysis (FFUP).

Dr Ângelo de Fátima

Prof Ângelo de Fátima holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). His expertise includes Organic and Biological Chemistry, with an emphasis on Organic Synthesis, focusing on the following areas: synthesis of molecules with biological and technological profiles, synthesis of immunogens and vaccines for the treatment of chemical dependence, and synthesis of new psychoactive substances (NPSs) for biophysical, pharmacological, and forensic studies.

Dr Armando da Silva Cunha Júnior

Prof Armando is a full professor of pharmacy at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Paris-Sud University (France) and experienced postdoctoral research in ocular drug delivery at “Team 17” of the “Centre de Recherches des Cordeliers” in Paris. He is a member of the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF), which he served as President in 2013. Prof Armando was also the Area Coordinator of the Pharmacy Sciences Graduate Programs (2014-2018) at the Brazilian foundation CAPES.

Dr Beatriz Baragaña

Dr Beatriz Baragaña holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oviedo (Spain) and carried out postdoctoral research at Prof. A. P. Davies laboratory at Trinity College Dublin, followed by an industrial postdoctoral position as Medicinal Chemist at Bayer AG (Wuppertal, Germany). Dr Baragaña is a Principal Investigator and apicomplexan portfolio leader in the Drug Discovery Unit at the University of Dundee (Scotland). She leads a portfolio of drug discovery projects for malaria, cryptosporidiosis, and schistosomiasis. Cabamiquine (DDD489), discovered by her team, has demonstrated single-dose cures for malaria infections in a Phase I clinical study and is now in Phase 2 trials in Africa. Her team has been awarded the Medicines for Malaria Venture Project of the Year Award twice (2014 and 2018).

Dr Bruno Júnior Neves

Prof Bruno Neves holds a master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Ph.D. in Tropical Medicine and Public Health from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of UFG. He collaborates with researchers from Brazilian institutions, such as UnB, UFSC, FIOCRUZ, and UFU, and foreign institutions, such as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the New University of Lisbon, and the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle. His main contributions are concentrated in the areas of Medicinal Chemistry, Chemoinformatics, and Computational Toxicology, with emphasis on the development of drug candidates for neglected tropical diseases, as well as the development of in silico tools and platforms for the evaluation of toxicological properties of chemical products. He coordinates research projects in cooperation with public and private institutions aiming at the discovery of new prototypes of antiparasitic drugs, larvicides (Aedes aegypti), and the development of computational tools for the prediction of ecotoxicological properties (acute toxicity to bees), neurotoxicity, and reproductive toxicity.

Dr Bruno Sarmento

Dr Bruno Sarmento is a Principal Investigator, Group Leader, and member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S), University of Porto (UP). He is the first Chair of the Nanomedicine and Nanoscale Delivery Focus Group of the Controlled Liberation Society (CRS). He is now Director-at-Large of CRS and a CRS College of Fellows member. His current research is focused on developing functionalized nanomedicines and their application in the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields.

Dr Caroline Mensor Folchini

Dr. Caroline  Folchini, a pharmacist who graduated from the Federal Institute of Paraná (UFPR), holds a master’s degree in clinical medicine and health sciences from HC-UFPR and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UFPR. She has experience in clinical research as a coordinator and an unblinded pharmacist, focusing on neurology. She has worked as a research coordinator at Pequeno Príncipe Hospital. She has taught undergraduate courses in Pharmacy, Nursing, and Nutrition at Unicesumar and the Postgraduate Program in Clinical Pharmacy at Faculdade Pequeno Príncipe. Currently, she is a clinical research coordinator at the Neurology Institute of Curitiba.

Dr Chrissie Ferreira de Carvalho

Prof Chrissie Carvalho is a professor at the Psychology Department of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the Federal University of Bahia and completed her postdoctoral studies at the Laboratory for Developmental Studies at Harvard University. She is currently the coordinator of the Cognitive and School Neuropsychology Laboratory (LANCE). Her research themes are Child and Youth Development, Neuropsychology, Childhood Intervention Programs, Executive Function, Social Cognition, and Neurotoxicology.

Dr Claudia Marcela Vargas Peláez

Prof Vargas Peláez holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the National University of Colombia, a master’s in pharmacology from the National University of Colombia, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. She has a Post-Doc at the Fundación IFARMA, where she served as a director. She was an assistant professor at the Department of Pharmacy at the National University of Colombia and is currently the Director of Medicines and Health Technologies at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia. Dr Claudia has developed research activities on public policies, including designing and evaluating public policies related to medicines in aspects such as access, prices, and intellectual property in Colombia and Latin America. In addition, she has worked in the care field, developing pharmaceutical care activities in primary health care. She has participated in consultancies on technology assessment at Colombia’s national and institutional levels.

Dr Cláudia Pinto Figueiredo

Cláudia Pinto Figueiredo is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She is a Biochemical Pharmacist with a master’s in Biotechnology and a Ph.D. in Neurosciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). Her studies are focused on the study of neurological impairments induced by viral triggers and chronic inflammatory processes. She is a Scientist of Our State (CNE) at FAPERJ, an affiliate member of TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences 2018-2022), and an affiliate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2015-2019). During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was appointed representative of the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research (PR-2) in the Steering Committee of the “Platform for Experimentation and Manipulation of Pathogenic Organisms at Biosafety Level 3 – PEMOP3” and member of the “UNESCO World Academy of Sciences advisory committee on COVID -9”.

Dr Constança Britto

PhD in Biological Sciences – Genetics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Post-doctorate at the University of Medicine of Montpellier I, France. Senior researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. Head of the Molecular Biology and Endemic Diseases Laboratory at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute. She is part of the Coordination of the Chagas Disease Translational Program at Fiocruz. She has experience in Biochemistry (Molecular Biology) and Parasitology, emphasizing Molecular Diagnosis of Neglected Diseases and Technological Development. She has more than 130 articles published in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Dalia Dawoud

Associate Research Director at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). She has over 20 years of experience as a health economist and researcher. Her current work is focused on advancing HTA and clinical guideline development methods through research. Prof. Dalia leads the NICE’s newly established HTA Innovation Laboratory (HTA Lab) as well as NICE’s portfolio of European Commission-funded projects, such as IMI NEURONET, IHI PREDICTOR, and AD-RIDDLE, with cumulative funding of over 5 million euros. She is widely published in the area of health economics and outcomes research and serves as Associate Editor of ISPOR journal Value in Health and as Director on ISPOR Board of Directors (2023-2026). Dr. Dalia also holds a position as a professor of clinical pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, Egypt, and has long-standing experience in the Egyptian healthcare system, both as a pharmacist and academic.

Msc. Dalmare Anderson Bezerra de Oliveira Falcão e Sá

Dalmare is a Pharmacist and a Resident Specialist in Mental Health with a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Sergipe. He is a Ph.D. student in Public Health at Fiocruz—Aggeu Magalhães Institute and a public servant of the State of Pernambuco and the Recife City Hall. Dalmare is a member of the Intersectoral Commission on Science, Technology, and Pharmaceutical Services of the National Health Council, representing the National Association of Graduate Students (ANPG).

Dr Dirceu B. Greco

Dirceu Greco is an Infectious Disease Physician with a Ph.D. in Tropical Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He is a Professor Emeritus at UFMG, where he served as a Pro-Rector of Post-Graduation. He was a member of CONEP (2007-2010), president of the Brazilian Society of Bioethics (2017-2021), and a member of the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee (2018-2025).

Dr Divaldo Pereira de Lyra Júnior

Prof Divaldo Lyra is a Pharmacist with a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto of the University of São Paulo (USP), and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing of USP. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), an advisor and founder of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and an advisor in the Graduate Program in Health Sciences, both at UFS. Leader of the Teaching and Research Group in Social Pharmacy, Coordinator of the Teaching and Research Laboratory in Social Pharmacy/UFS, and former Ad Hoc Consultant of the Ministry of Health, Dr Lyra is a Scientific Director of the Brazilian Society of Hospital Pharmacy and Health Services. He has trained 28 doctors, 35 masters, and supervised two post-doctorates. He has published three books and more than 175 articles and has been awarded 54 national and international awards and honors. He has given more than 230 lectures and courses in Brazil and abroad.

Dr Elisângela Da Costa Lima

Prof. Elisângela Lima is a Pharmacist from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a Specialist in Hospital Pharmacy by the Brazilian Society of Hospital Pharmacy (SBRAFH). She holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from Fiocruz/Brazil and is a Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of UFRJ. Dr Elisângela Lima is a Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology at the UFRJ and Editor-in-chief of the Brazilian Journal on Hospital Pharmacy and Health Services.

 

Dr Flávio Emery

Prof Emery is a pharmacist who graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFMG) with a Ph.D. in the chemistry of natural products from the Center for Research in Natural Products (NPPN, currently IPPN) at the same institution. He is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto of the University of São Paulo (FCFRP/USP), where he develops projects in medicinal chemistry and synthesis of heterocycles. He is co-founder of the Center for Research and Advances in Molecular Fragments and Targets (CRAFT), a drug discovery center of FCFRP/USP. Author of the book “Chloroquination: How Brazil Became the Country of Chloroquine and other false cures for COVID-19”. He was president of the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF) from 2019 to 2020. Currently, he holds the position of Academic Adjunct Coordinator of the Pharmacy area at CAPES, Brazil.

Dr Fernanda Manzini

Dr Fernanda Manzini holds a degree in Pharmacy, and a master’s and a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). She is a postdoctoral student in the Post-Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Police and Services at UFSC. Dr Manzini is a pharmacist at the Municipal Health Department of Florianópolis, working at the School of Public Health. Her research themes are pharmaceutical services, pharmacy education, primary care, interprofessional education, and social participation. She is a project coordinator at the National School of Pharmacists Institute. She is in coordination with the Integra Project, an initiative of Fiocruz, the National School of Pharmacists Institute, the National Health Council, and the Ministry of Health.

Dr Geisa Paulino Caprini Evaristo

is a biologist with a degree from the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from Delft University of Technology (TUDelft). She is currently a researcher at Fiocruz Rondônia. Her research focuses on bioprospecting active molecules from the Amazon’s flora and fauna against tropical diseases. She has experience in proteomics, metabolomics, and natural products, utilizing chromatographic techniques, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics.

Dr German E. Wassermann

Prof. Wassermann holds a degree in Pharmacy with a habilitation in Food Biochemistry and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. After graduation, he joined the Cristália Laboratory as a Senior Researcher in Protein Purification. He currently serves as Deputy Director of R&D for the Biotechnology Division.

Dr Graziela Scheuer Gomes

Dr Graziela is a Pharmacist from the Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA) and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), with part of her doctoral research at Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on the development of nanotechnological formulations for treating autoimmune diseases, emphasizing improving therapeutic efficacy and, consequently, patients’ quality of life. Currently, she works in the pharmaceutical industry as an Innovation Researcher, dedicating herself to researching and improving new technologies and therapeutic strategies. With academic training and practical experience in developing new formulations, she seeks to contribute to advancing emerging technologies and innovative approaches in the pharmaceutical sector.

Dr Gustavo Henrique Goulart Trossini

Dr Trossini is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (FCF-USP). Pharmacist from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in Drugs and Medicines from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of São Paulo, with a sandwich internship at the University of New Mexico. He held a postdoctoral degree in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of São Paulo. He created and led the Laboratory for Integrating Experimental and Computational Techniques (LITEC) at FCF-USP. His research aims to integrate computational and experimental methods in the search and elucidation of the mechanism of action of bioactive compounds. He is a CNPq productivity fellow and an effective member and active Brazilian Society of Chemistry (SBQ) member, acting as Director (2022-2024). He has experience in Drug Design, Medicinal Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Molecular Modeling, and Quantitative Relationships between Chemical Structure and Biological Activity (QSAR).

Dr Hellen Karine Stulzer

Hellen Karine Stulzer is an Associate professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the UFSC and performed postdoctoral research in Physical Pharmacy at UCONN/USA. Her area of expertise is drug delivery and physical characterization of drugs and dosage forms. Her research in these areas aims to improve drug therapy through appropriate medicine formulation. Prof Stulzer has special interests in amorphous drugs, solid dispersions, co-amorphous, and other supersaturating systems.

Dr Humberto Gomes Ferraz

Dr Ferraz is a Biochemical pharmacist from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, with a master’s and doctorate in Drugs and Medicines from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (FCF-USP). He holds a postdoctoral degree from the University of Coimbra – Portugal, and an associate professorship from FCF-USP. Dr Humberto serves as a Visiting researcher at the University of East Anglia – United Kingdom, and a Collaborating Professor at the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo – Peru. He is an associate professor at the Department of Pharmacy at FCF-USP, where he works in Pharmacotechnics. He is also the Director of the FCF-USP, Coordinator of the EMBRAPII Center for Drug Innovation Unit (CEINFAR), and holder of the most profitable patent at the University of São Paulo (Vonau Flash).

Dr Irene Clemes Kulkamp Guerreiro

Prof Irene Guerreiro is a Pharmacist with a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She has professional experience in the manipulation and technological development of pharmaceutical products. Professor at undergraduate and graduate levels in Pharmaceutical Technology, focusing her studies on the Sustainable Development of Nanotechnological Medicines and Cosmetics. She is an Associate Professor at the School of Pharmacy of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and leader of the Pharmaceutical Technology and Applied Cosmetics Research Group. Current director of the Center for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology at UFRGS. Mentor of Innovation Projects.

Dr Irene da Silva Soares

Prof Irene Soares graduated in Biomedicine from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), holds a Master’s in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). She is a Full Professor at the Department of Clinical and Toxicological Analysis of the University of São Paulo (FCF-USP). Dr Soares’s research is in Parasite Protozoology, specifically in human malaria. Current projects are focused on developing a vaccine against malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax. She participates in the National Institute of Vaccine Science and Technology (INCTV). She develops work in partnership with the Vaccine Technology Center (CT-Vaccines) of the UFMG, which will contribute to the final development of the prototype and clinical trial of the vaccine.

Dr João Nóbrega de Almeida Júnior

Prof. João Nobrega graduated in Medical Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (USP) with a Medical Residency in Infectious Diseases at the Instituto de Infectologia Emílio Ribas. He holds a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine of USP and served as a Postdoctoral researcher at the same institution. Prof João Nobrega also holds the title of specialist in Clinical Pathology. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Paulista School of Medicine, Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), and an Assistant Physician and Researcher at the Laboratory of the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein.

Dr João Vitor Raupp de Oliveira

João Vitor has a Bachelor’s in Medicinal Chemistry from the Federal University of Health Sciences Foundation of Porto Alegre (UFCSPA) and holds a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPGCF) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). PhD student in the same graduate program and member of the group of Nanocarriers and 3D Printing in Pharmaceutical Technology (Nano3D), he has experience in the development of inorganic silica carriers as drug delivery systems and in the 3D printing of drugs by photopolymerization in vats. He is a partner and co-founder of Linear – “Comunicação Visual Científica,” a startup specializing in creating graphic resources.

Dr Jorge Antônio Zepeda Bermudez

Dr. Jorge Bermudez graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He obtained his master’s in Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (Tropical Medicine) from the same university and completed his Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences from the National School of Public Health / Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. He is currently a Retired Public Health Researcher (PPVS – Senior Volunteer Researcher Program) at the Department of Medicines Policy and Pharmaceutical Services (NAF/ENSP), PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center on Pharmaceutical Policy, Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health. He is linked as an Advisor at VPPIS/Fiocruz (Vice-Presidency of Production and Innovation in Health). He has experience in Collective Health, working mainly in access to medicines, public policies, innovation, and intellectual property, including publishing several books, book chapters, and papers.

Dr Jorge Carlos Santos da Costa

Dr Jorge Costa holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a master’s degree in chemistry of Natural Products from UFRJ, and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from IOC/Fiocruz. He has more than 30 years of professional experience in the pharmochemical industry. He is currently an advisor to the Vice-Presidency of Production and Innovation in Health at Fiocruz. Dr Costa belongs to the faculty of the Academic Graduate Program in Translational Research in Drugs and Medicines of Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz. He is a full member of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Brazil/National Academy of Pharmacy, occupying Chair number 25 since 2019.

Dr José Antonio Menezes Filho

Dr José Antonio Menezes Filho holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), a master’s in Environmental Pollution Control from Penn State, and a Doctoral degree in Public and Environmental Health from ENSP/Fiocruz. After a 7-month stint as a visiting professor at the Institut de Salud Global Barcelona, he has served as a consultant for public agencies. He collaborates with colleagues on studies investigating the health impacts of environmental pollutants in Brazil and internationally.

Dr Leila Bastos Leal

Prof Leila Leal has a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, a Master’s, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), and a post-doctorate from the University of Bath/UK. She is an Associate Professor at UFPE, a technical consultant at Hygeia Pharma and B&S Pharmaceutical Innovations, a member of the Technical Board of Health of FACEPE, and a Researcher at the Center for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Development (NUDFAC/ UFPE). She is also responsible for the BioAltern-Agro Network and represents RENAMA’s Associated Laboratories. Dr. Leal has 20 years of experience developing pharmaceutical products and performance tests in medicines, cosmetics, and pesticides.

Dr Leonardo Régis Leira Pereira

Dr Leonardo Pereira graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences and holds a master’s and a Ph.D. from the University of São Paulo (FCFRP-USP), and a Postdoctoral Fellow in internal medicine and medical therapy at the Università degli Studi di Pavia (Italy). Prof Leonardo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at FCFRP-USP. He works with pharmaceutical assistance, clinical pharmacy and therapy, and pharmaceutical care. Dr Pereira has held a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow since 2010 and has been Treasurer of ABCF (Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences) since 2012. He is currently the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at FCFRP-USP (2022-2026). He is accredited as an advisor with the Graduate Programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences at FCFRP-USP, Management of Health Organizations at FMRP-USP, and Pharmaceutical Services at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).

Dr Leticia Veras Costa Lotufo

Full Professor at the Department of Pharmacology at the University of São Paulo. Member of the coordination of the Biota-FAPESP program. She was an affiliate of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) and the São Paulo State Sciences Academy (ACIESP). She is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Human Biology at the University of Cape Town (2022-2026) and contributed to training 51 postgraduate students, 70% of whom were women. Her scientific research involves searching for new anticancer drugs based on Brazilian biodiversity, especially in the marine environment, where it has been developing projects to understand microbial biodiversity and its biotechnological potential, aiming at the sustainable development of new drugs.

Dr Luciene Fontes Schluckebier Bonan

Dr Luciene holds a degree in Industrial Pharmacy from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), a master’s degree in Oncology, with an emphasis on Clinical Research from the National Cancer Institute, and a Ph.D. in Oncology, with an emphasis on Epidemiology from the National Cancer Institute. She works in Health Economics, emphasizing health technology assessment, program and service evaluation, health economic evaluation, planning, and management. She worked as a coordinator of research projects on technology assessment in oncology. She was a consultant for the company “ASAS Valor em Saúde.” She worked as a technical consultant at the Executive Secretariat of the Chamber of Regulation of the Drug Market (SCMED/ ANVISA). She is currently a professor of the Professional master’s degree in health technology Assessment at the National Institute of Cardiology and Director of the Department of Management and Incorporation of Health Technologies.

Dr Márcio Galvão Oliveira

Dr. Marcio Galvão graduated as a Pharmacist from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) with a specialization in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Chile, a specialization in Pharmaceutical Services from UFBA, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in Medicine and Health from UFBA. He worked as a pharmacist at the Hospital das Clínicas of UFBA from 2001 to 2008, coordinating the Hospital Pharmaceutical Assistance Service between 2007 and 2008. He is currently an associate professor in Clinical Pharmacy, tutor of the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Urgency at the Multidisciplinary Institute in Health (IMS)/UFBA and General Hospital of Vitória da Conquista (HGVC), and permanent professor of the Graduate Program in Collective Health and the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Services.

Dr Marco Aurélio Pereira

Dr. Marco Aurélio Pereira is a servant at the Ministry of Health and currently holds the position of director of the Department of Pharmaceutical Services and Strategic Inputs (DAF/SECTICS/MS) of the Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation and the Economic-Industrial Health Complex (SECTICS). Between 2009 and 2016, he coordinated the Popular Pharmacy Program of Brazil. He served as substitute executive secretary of the National Health Council (CNS/MS) and technical advisor to the CNS Commission for Science and Technology of Pharmaceutical Services.
Pharmacist who graduated in Pharmacy from the Catholic University of Santos, Dr. Pereira is a specialist in pharmacology from the same university and has a master’s degree in Public Health from the Osvaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). He worked in hospital pharmacy and as a professor in the pharmacy courses at universities in the São Paulo State. He was president of the Pharmacists’ Union in the State of São Paulo and director of the National Federation of Pharmacists (Fenafar).

Dr Mark R. Prausnitz

Mark R. Prausnitz is Regents’ Professor, Regents’ Entrepreneur, and J. Erskine Love, Jr. Chair in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He researches biophysical drug delivery methods using microneedles, lasers, ionic liquids, and other microdevices for drug and vaccine transdermal, ocular, and intracellular delivery. Dr Prausnitz has published over 340 journal articles, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering and National Academy of Inventors, and co-founded nine start-up companies, including Micron Biomedical, Clearside Biomedical, and Alys Pharmaceuticals.

Dr Mercedes Maria Da Cunha Bustamante

Prof Mercedes Bustamante is a full professor at the University of Brasília (UnB) and has experience in Ecology, with emphasis on Ecosystem Ecology, working mainly on the following topics: Cerrado, changes in land use, biogeochemistry, global environmental changes. She has experience as the General Coordinator of Ecosystem Management (2011-2012), Director of Policies and Thematic Programs of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (2012-2013), Director of Programs and Scholarships in the Country of CAPES (2016), and President of CAPES/Brazil (2023). Elected member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, she also received a Commendation of the National Order of Scientific Merit in 2018. Prof Bustamante was elected to The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), received an Honorary Fellow of the Association of Tropical Biology and Conservation (2020), and is an international member of the US National Academy of Sciences (2021).

Dr Nilton Lincopan

Nilton Lincopan graduated in Medical Technology from the Universidad Austral de Chile. He holds a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and performed a Postdoctoral Internship in Biochemistry at the Institute of Chemistry at the University of São Paulo (USP). Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Microbiology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the USP, where he conducts research in Human and Veterinary Microbiology focusing on Bacterial Resistance at the Human-Environment-Animal Interface (One Health), Genomic Surveillance, and Therapeutic Alternatives. Founder and coordinator of the OneBR (http://www.onehealthbr.com/) network and platform, the first integrated genomics database for surveillance, diagnosis, and management of antimicrobial resistance at the human-animal-environment interface in Latin America. He participates as a member of the Technical Chamber of Microbial Resistance (CATREM, ANVISA), the Brazilian Committee for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (BrCast, Subcommittee on Veterinary Medicine), and the WHO Expert Group on the global AMR research agenda in human Health.

Dr Octavio Augusto França Presgrave

Dr Octavio Presgrave holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Gama Filho and a master’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Fundação Oswaldo Cruz. He defended his Ph.D. in Health Surveillance at INCQS. He is currently a Senior Technologist at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (ICTB/FIOCRUZ) and a collaborator at the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), where he is a member of the Technical Chamber of Cosmetics (CATEC). He has experience in Pharmacology and Toxicology, with an emphasis on Alternative Methods, working mainly on the following topics: alternative methods, toxicology, cosmetics, quality control, pyrogen, and eye and skin irritation. He was head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of INCQS/FIOCRUZ and Coordinator of the Technical Group of Cosmetics of INCQS/FIOCRUZ. He has been a member of the Ethics Committee on the Use of Animals of FIOCRUZ (CEUA/FIOCRUZ) since 1999, being its coordinator from 2006 to 2008 and returning to coordinate it from 2010 to 2022. He was vice president of the Brazilian Society of Laboratory Animal Sciences (SBCAL) from 2018 to 2022 and Coordinator of BraCVAM – Brazilian Center for the Validation of Alternative Methods.

Dr Rafael Linden

Rafael Linden holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and in Biomedicine from Feevale University, a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. He is a full professor at Feevale University, teaching undergraduate courses in Pharmacy, Biomedicine, and Medicine and serving as a permanent faculty member in the Graduate Program in Environmental Quality and the Graduate Program in Toxicology and Analytical Toxicology.

Dr Richard Tomasini

Richard Tomasini completed a Ph.D. in Eucaryotes Biology at the INSERM U624 in Marseille. Then, he performed a post-doctoral fellowship with Dr. Tak W. Mak at the Campbell Family Institute for Breast Cancer Research, Ontario Cancer Institute in Toronto, studying the role of a p53 family member, TAp73, in cancer-related mechanisms. In 2012, Dr Tomasini integrated the CRCM, Cancer Research Center of Marseille, where he developed a «Microenvironment and Pancreatic Cancer» project with a « Starting grant » from ERC. Since 2024, he has led the team “Stromal/tumor cell crosstalk and metabolic reprogramming in pancreatic cancer,” specifically focusing on stromal cell/Microenvironment/crosstalk impact on PDAC aggressiveness and resistance to treatments. During his career, he published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, including Nat Rev Mol Cell Biol, Genes and Development, Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, Gut, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Cell Death and Differentiation, Cancer Research, Oncogene, and others. Collectively, these papers have received more than 6,000 citations.

Dr Rogean Vinicius Santos Soares

Mr Rogean Vinicius Soares holds a master’s degree in applied cellular and molecular biology from the University of Pernambuco (UPE) and is a Ph.D. student in Collective Health from UFRJ. He is the president of the National Association of Graduate Students (ANPG). In his professional activities, Rogean Vinícius was a Treasurer of the Central Directory of Students Professor Paulo Freire (DCE-UPE), Secretary-General of ANPG, and Director of Communication.

Dr Roselena Schuh

Generalist pharmacist and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She is a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at UFRGS, a supervisor at PPGCF/UFRGS, and a research professor in the Cells, Tissues, and Genes group at the “Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre”. She researches pharmaceutical nanotechnology and the development of non-viral nucleic acid vectors for gene therapy with the CRISPR / Cas9 system. She works in basic and translational research with in vitro and in vivo applications, especially in nasal, intra-articular, and ocular administration routes.

Dr Rui Daniel Prediger

Rui Daniel Prediger is a Full Professor at the Department of Pharmacology at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and coordinator of the Experimental Laboratory of Neurodegenerative Diseases (LEXDON), where he coordinates research on early changes and new therapeutic targets for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. He is a CNPq level I productivity fellow and author of 210 articles in international journals with more than 10,500 citations.

Dr Ruy Carlos Ruver Beck

Prof Ruy Carlos Ruver Beck is a Full Professor of Pharmaceutics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), where he serves as the Dean. He obtained his Industrial Pharmacy degree from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Science and Technology from UFSM, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from UFRGS. During his Ph.D., he undertook a sandwich doctoral internship at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics at Saarland University, Germany. He completed his postdoctoral (Senior Stage) research at the University College London, UK. Dr. Beck is also an Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Elsevier has consistently recognized him, being listed among the top 2% most cited scientists worldwide in Pharmacology and Pharmacy for 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. He is an active Controlled Release Society (CRS) member, including its Brazilian Chapter and the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF). Currently, Dr. Beck holds the coordinator position at the National Institute of Science and Technology in 3D Printing and Advanced Materials Applied to Human and Animal Health. He is also a member of The International Pharmaceutical 3D Printing Initiative (Pharma3DPI).

Dr. Sara Elis Bianchi

Dr Sara Elis Bianchi is a Pharmacist with a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS) and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She participated in the Sandwich Doctorate Program at the Laboratory of Applied Biochemistry, Office of Biotechnology Research, at the U.S. federal agency Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Currently, she is a professor at UFRGS and co-founder of Isobio – Natural Products Technology Ltd

Dr Sergio Sosa-Estani

Doctor in Medicine from the School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires, and post-doctoral experience at CEBGH/SPHTM Tulane University (New Orleans, USA). He is Head of the Chagas Clinical Program, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative – Institute of Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy. Professor of the master’s program in Clinical Effectiveness and Health at the University of Buenos Aires. He has performed many epidemiological and clinical research projects on tropical and endemic diseases and re-emerging and emerging diseases. He has researched Chagas disease, HIV/AIDS, Uremic Heamolitic Syndrome, and other infectious diseases.

Dr Silvana M. Zucolotto

Dr Silvana Zucolotto is the Dean for Research and Associate Professor of the Pharmacy Department at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). She completed a Postdoctoral at Plants for Human Health Institute at North Carolina State University (USA) and is a Principal Investigator of the Research Group on Bioactive Natural Products. Dr Zucolotto is the Northeast regional representative of the Brazilian Society of Pharmacognosy and the founder of @fitoterapia.com.ciencia. Her research projects focus on the development of phytotherapeutics containing active pharmaceutical ingredients from native Brazilian plants.

Dr. Silvya Stuchi Maria-Engler

Dr. Silvya Stuchi Maria-Engler is a Full Professor at the University of São Paulo (USP). Graduated in Biological Sciences from UNESP-IBILCE, master’s degree in Cellular and Structural Biology from State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), and Ph.D. in Functional and Molecular Biology from UNICAMP. She received a postdoctoral degree in molecular biology from the University of California, San Francisco, USA, and the Institute of Chemistry at USP. She was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Dermatology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. She was head of the Department of Clinical and Toxicological Analysis and is the current Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Pharmacy, area of Clinical Analysis. She is the current vice president of the FCF-USP Research Committee. She works as a scientific consultant with cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies and as a reviewer of international projects and grants. She reproduces human skin in vitro (in artificial skin systems and dermal equivalents) for molecular characterization projects of new anti-tumor drugs or topical formulations.

Dr. Sucheta Banerjee Kurundkar

Sucheta Banerjee Kurundkar holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Pune, India. She is the Director of the Clinical Development Services Agency (CDSA), an extramural unit of the Translational Health Science & Technology Institute (THSTI), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. Dr Kurundkar has experience in Drug Development, Implementation, Monitoring, and Management of Pre-Clinical and Clinical Trials. She is an active member of the Ethical Committee, including VoIREthics (Inserm, European Commission), and worked with national (CDSCO) and international drugs regulatory agencies (USFDA, UK MHRA, ANSM France).

Dr. Tânia Maria Bellé Bresolin

Professor Tania Bresolin is a Pharmacist with a Ph.D. in Sciences (Biochemistry) from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), with a sandwich scholarship at the “Centre de Recherche sur les Macromolécules Végétales – CERMAV”, in Grenoble (France). She was a Professor at the Department of Pharmacy at UFPR and a coordinator of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPGCF) at the University of Vale do Itajaí (UNIVALI). She has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF) since 2019 and is currently the first Treasurer. Professor Tania is currently the Coordinator of Evaluation of the Graduate Area in Pharmacy at Capes.

Dr Thomas Schmidt

Prof Schmidt studied Pharmacy and obtained his doctorate in Pharmaceutical Biology at the University of Düsseldorf, Germany. After a DFG research fellowship at the Department of Chemistry, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA, in 1995, he worked on his habilitation in Pharmaceutical Biology at the University of Düsseldorf. Since 2005, Prof Schmidt has been a University Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology and Phytochemistry at the University of Münster, Germany. He obtained various prizes and distinctions and authored about 190 publications. He was a visiting Professor at the University of São Paulo (USP, Brazil) in 2009 and is one of the founders of the Research Network Natural Products against Neglected Diseases (www.ResNetNPND.org). He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the open-access journal Molecules (MDPI, Basel, Switzerland).

Dr Toyin Tofade

Toyin Tofade is President and Professor at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, USA. She received a bachelor’s in pharmacy from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, a master’s in pharmacy practice, and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from UNC at Chapel Hill. She also received a certificate of public leadership from Harvard Kennedy School. She completed a residency with emphasis on clinical pharmacokinetics from UNC Chapel Hill and an ASHP-accredited residency at UNC hospitals. She served as the dean and professor at the Howard University College of Pharmacy in Washington, D.C., and in multiple roles at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP) in Baltimore, including associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science and associate director and assistant dean of the Experiential Learning Program

Dr Vanessa Carla Furtado Mosqueira

Prof Vanessa Mosqueira has been a professor in the Pharmaceutics field at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) since 1993. She holds a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Paris XI University. Her research focus is on nanotechnology to design new formulations to treat chronic-degenerative and parasitic neglected diseases, particularly Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, and malaria, searching for improving efficacy and reducing the toxicity of different molecules and developing new synthetic conjugated biodegradable polymers for targeting intracellular parasites and tumor cells. She has led international cooperation projects such as CAPES/COFECUB and the BRICS/MCTI with South Africa and China.

Dr Vera Lucia Luiza

Dr Luiza holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a master’s in Hospital Pharmacy from the same institution, and a Ph.D. in Public Health from the National School of Public Health. She was a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School with a Fulbright scholarship. She is a volunteer senior researcher at the National School of Public Health, deputy leader of the research group Nucleo de Assistencia Farmacêutica in the CNPq, and coordinates the PAHO WHO Collaborating Centre in Pharmaceutical Policies. Dr Luiza has been developing research activities on health policies, especially pharmaceutical policies, on themes such as access to medicines, primary health care, and health evaluation.
