Letter from the organizers

We are pleased to announce the VIII Congress of the Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF), which will take place in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, in 2026, bringing together researchers, professionals, students, and representatives from the productive sector from Brazil and abroad.

With the theme “Innovations and Challenges in Pharmaceutical Sciences: Technological Advances, New Therapies, and Policies for Sustainable Health,” the congress aims to promote the advancement of Pharmaceutical Sciences and expand its contribution to addressing the major challenges of contemporary public health. The event will serve as a platform for scientific integration and collaboration, fostering the exchange of knowledge and the development of innovative solutions capable of transforming scientific discoveries into technologies, products, and services for society.

In this edition, scientific discussions will focus on strategic areas such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, bioeconomy, and artificial intelligence applied to health, all of which hold great potential to revolutionize the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, including chronic diseases, neglected diseases, and antimicrobial resistance.

The congress will also seek to strengthen dialogue among academia, industry, and government, encouraging partnerships and contributing to the scientific, technological, and regulatory development of the pharmaceutical sector. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), the event will feature conferences, symposia, and interdisciplinary thematic sessions that reflect the diversity and societal impact of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

We invite the entire scientific and professional community to join us in Salvador, Bahia, to share knowledge, build partnerships, and discuss the future of innovation in health.

The Brazilian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (ABCF) was created from a movement of professors and researchers, mainly linked to postgraduate programmes, with a history of working towards the creation of the Pharmacy area at CAPES (1993) and the Pharmacy Advisory Committee at CNPq (1996 together with Medicine CA-MF and 2004 CA-FR). The discussions pointed to the need for a scientific society to represent the Pharmaceutical Sciences at different levels, in order to support researchers and add value to the area.
